The Secret To No-Code Automation ROINo-Code Automation ROI Calculator

Return on Investment is a measure of financial impact of investments of an organization. It, along with Speed to Value, Durability and Efficiency, represents the value that the Odyssey Digital Automation Platform brings to an organization. In the past, companies had been satisfied with an ROI of 30%, which represented a payback period (when savings realized covered expenses incurred) of 15 months. More recently firms have expected a payback of 12 months (within the year) yielding an ROI of 64%. Other firms have expected an even quicker return with an ROI of 100% or payback of 9 months. As more and more companies are looking for an “in-year” payback, meaning that the savings realized offset the cost of the tool within the current company fiscal year, the payback number, provided in months, is an important metric to know.

Return-On-Investment

The Odyssey ROI Calculator was created to help you with the business justification required when identifying new tools, in this case the Odyssey Digital Automation Platform, that you wish to bring into an organization. When creating a business case, it is common practice to calculate the Return on Investment, or ROI. The ROI is calculated based on two components, the savings to be realized versus the cost of the tool. This is spread over a period of time (typically three – five years). The tool will return two numbers: the ROI for that period of time and the payback period in months.

The Projected Savings is Divided Into Three Areas:

  • The savings from improvement in the target, or primary process. These savings are typically captured as part of the ROI calculation. Enter the requested metrics as listed below.
  • The savings from downstream processes. These savings are often missed. For example, with a manual process as the primary, should someone put in information incorrectly, what is the cost to correcting that information when it impacts downstream processes, like reconciliation or other such processes. When capturing these savings, it is important to think about the overall process holistically and not just within the primary process.
  • Other costs, such as transaction-based cloud costs, infrastructure costs, application-use costs are all examples of other costs that could be saved by a more efficient and “get it right the first time” processes. Enter the estimated monthly savings.

Choices That Makes Up the Entire Solution

  • Odyssey is sold on an annual subscription based on number of task agents, system agents and server licenses. The task agent bundle is based on unique task agents. For instance, if you select the “SAP” task agent, it can be used as many times as you wish, but will only count as one task agent. The system agent is the container that holds the task agents. The Odyssey server is what drives the activity of the task agent(s). Select your preferred package from the drop down.
  • Odyssey is typically sold for a three-year or a five-year term. Choose your term from the drop down.
  • Odyssey Professional Development Services allows customers to purchase a package of development hours in which Pantheon resources will build the project(s) for you. Select your desired package from the drop down.
  • Should you desire to have your team trained to build applications, integrations, etc. in Odyssey, the Training solution is a good option. There are two eight-hour classes that are available that are spread over several days. The typical training class is for five people. Please enter the number of people for training.

Based on the above information, the spreadsheet will return two numbers in the upper right corner:

  • ROI
  • Payback in months
